Description
The Banff International Research Station will host the "Centers of mass of convex bodies" Research in Teams workshop in Banff from August 18 - 25, 2024.
First systematic studies of centers of mass (also known as centers of gravity or centroids) of solids go back to Archimedes. Since then, centroids have found numerous applications in different disciplines such as mathematics, physics, engineering, astronomy, architecture, and others. This Research in Teams aims to investigate the properties of the centroids relative to different measurements of convex bodies (such as width, diameter, etc.) and their connection with other special points of convex bodies (such as centroids of the body surface, Santal\'o point, centers of inscribed and circumscribed spheres, etc.).
